Italian law on professions not organized in orders or colleges.

Law 14 January 2013 n. 4 regulates "non-regulated professions" including many wellness figures: masseurs, naturopaths, yoga instructors, holistic operators, counselors. Allows autonomous practice with VAT registration, also at home. Italian context only — UK/DE have different regulatory frameworks.

Italian law on hairdresser activities.

Italian Law n. 174/2005 regulates hairdresser activities. Requires professional qualification + Trade Register enrollment. Home service is permitted only in specific cases (events, ceremonies, clients with physical/health impediment) — systematic home-only practice is not allowed in Italy.

Italian framework law on beautician activities.

Italian Law n. 1/1990 regulates beautician activities. Requires 3-year professional qualification + regional certification. Like hairdressers (L. 174/2005), home service in Italy is permitted only for ceremonies, events, clients with impediment.

Web app installable from browser without going through App Stores.

A Progressive Web App behaves like a native app: install with one tap from browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge), works offline via Service Worker, supports push notifications, has home screen icon. A Service Worker is a programmable proxy between app and network. Enables offline cache, push notifications, background sync. Technology that makes PWAs work like native apps.

Universal calendar format standard, supported by Google, Apple, Outlook.

The ICS format (iCalendar, RFC 5545) is a text-based standard to exchange events between calendars. When ZenBookr confirms an appointment, client receives a downloadable .ics auto-imported into Google/Apple/Outlook Calendar. Drastically reduces no-shows because event lands in client calendar with native reminders.

Stripe solution for marketplace platforms paying verified sub-accounts.

Stripe Connect is Stripe product for platforms where multiple professionals collect payments via same platform. ZenBookr creates a connected Stripe account for each pro (automatic KYC via Stripe onboarding) and client payments go directly to pro account. ZenBookr never touches funds (no PSD2 license needed) and takes no commission on bookings.

Temporary block of amount on card without immediate charge.

Pre-authorization (Stripe "manual capture") reserves an amount on client card at booking (visible as "pending" in statement) without charging. Payment is "captured" only at service completion or retained on no-show. Typical validity 7 days.

Automatic recurring charge (e.g. monthly subscription).

Monthly subscriptions (e.g. €3.99/month ZenBookr Starter) use Stripe Subscriptions auto-recurring on card. PSD2 SCA compliant: first transaction authenticated via 3D Secure, subsequent passwordless. Cancelable anytime from client panel.

Contactless payment by bringing card/smartphone close to reader.

Tap to Pay is NFC contactless payment: client brings card/Apple Pay/Google Pay/smartwatch close to POS and pays in 1 second. €50 limit no-PIN in IT (€100 in DE/AT). Stripe Reader supports NFC natively.

Mandatory EU two-factor authentication for online payments (PSD2).

PSD2 Directive imposes SCA: every online payment over €30 in EU requires 2 authentication factors (e.g. card + 3D Secure SMS or banking app). ZenBookr and Stripe handle SCA automatically: if client bank requires 3DS, payment flow opens in secure iframe.

Cushion time between appointments for station cleanup or movement.

Buffer time is the temporal margin a pro leaves between bookings. Used to clean/sanitize station, welcome next client, handle payment. A spa with 60 min treatment + 15 min fixed buffer is more realistic than back-to-back 60 min. ZenBookr allows buffer per service and per pro.

Penalty for clients who do not show up without notice.

The no-show fee is an amount automatically retained when client does not show. ZenBookr supports Stripe pre-authorization: an amount is blocked on client card at booking, charged only if no-show or late cancellation. Disarms seasonal no-shows (Saturday peaks, PT prime-time sessions).

Walk-in is the classic client entering without appointment asking for immediate service. Managing them needs free slot residues. ZenBookr can auto-open walk-in slots when calendar has gaps.

Showcase where clients discover and book professionals near them.

ZenBookr marketplace (book.zenbookr.app) is the public showcase where clients searching hairdressers, beauticians, PTs, etc. discover nearby pros, read reviews, book instantly. Different from competitors: zero commissions on bookings. Pro pays only subscription.

Variable rates by time slot, day, or seasonality.

Smart pricing automatically varies service price based on dynamic factors: higher Saturday afternoon (peak), -20% Tuesday morning (empty calendar), seasonal summer/winter rates. A manicure can cost €25 Saturday and €20 Monday. Yield management applied to wellness.

Calendar view with separate columns per team operator.

In a salon with 4 hairdressers, multi-stylist calendar shows 4 side-by-side columns, one per pro. Lets receptionist quickly assign clients to free stylists. ZenBookr supports unlimited teams (Starter plan) with differentiated permissions.

Management of multiple branches/salons under single account.

For salon/spa chains with multiple locations, multi-location management lets you administer all locations from a single admin account: separate calendars, separate teams, differentiated pricing per location. Note: the ZenBookr Starter plan includes 1 location; multi-location support is on the roadmap.

Sheet with treatment history, allergies, preferences, before/after photos.

The client card is the digital folder with all history: hair coloring (exact formula), face treatments, product allergies, preferences, before/after photos. Essential for hairdressers and beauticians. Sensitive data per GDPR art. 9 when containing health info.

Cash register with receipt printer and connected to Stripe Reader.

ZenBookr integrated POS lets pro manage in-person cash too: receipts, card reader (Stripe Reader BT contact + contactless), mixed payments cash+card. All syncs with client card.

Rules governing client modifications/cancellations.

Defines how much in advance client can cancel/reschedule for free (e.g. 24h before), and what happens late (e.g. -50% retained). ZenBookr lets configure policy per service.

Activity operating without fixed physical location.

Google Business Profile category for activities serving clients at home or in multiple zones (outdoor PT, home masseurs, traveling naturopaths). Declared on Google Business Profile with served area but no visible fixed address.

European regulation on personal data protection, in force since 25/5/2018.

The General Data Protection Regulation applies to anyone processing data of EU residents. For wellness pros it is crucial: client cards, treatment history, before/after photos are all personal data (some sensitive = Art. 9 GDPR). Requires notice, explicit consent, technical and organizational security, access/deletion/portability rights.

Contract between Controller and Processor, mandatory under GDPR.

When a professional uses ZenBookr to manage client data, ZenBookr acts as Data Processor and the pro is Data Controller. Art. 28 GDPR mandates written contract (DPA) covering purposes, duration, security measures, sub-processors, audit. ZenBookr provides its standard DPA signable in-app.

EU regulation on transparency and accountability of digital platforms.

In force since 17 February 2024, the Digital Services Act regulates online platforms in EU. Obligations: single contact point, transparency on moderation, illegal content reporting, annual reports. Applies to ZenBookr as it hosts user-generated content (reviews, pro profiles).

EU platform for out-of-court resolution of online disputes.

EU Regulation 524/2013 obliges online marketplaces to display link to EU Commission ODR platform (https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr). Lets EU consumers request free mediation in case of dispute with pro. ZenBookr displays link in Client Terms.
