Using the Cash Register and charging with Tap to Pay

How to take payments in your salon with the ZenBookr Cash Register: charging an appointment, free sales, cash or card with Tap to Pay straight from your phone.

The Cash Register is the built-in point of sale in ZenBookr — you will find it in the middle of the bottom navigation bar. From there you charge completed appointments or record free sales, in cash or by card. With Tap to Pay your smartphone becomes the card reader: the client taps their card (or phone/smartwatch) on yours — no external reader, no monthly fees.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Open the Cash Register from the bottom bar

    Tap Cash Register in the navigation bar. Here you see the current basket and can add services, products or free amounts.

  2. Add what you are charging

    Pick services from your price list or enter a free amount. If you are charging an appointment, start straight from the appointment in the calendar: services and price are pre-filled.

  3. Choose the payment method

    At checkout choose between cash and card. Card payments require your Stripe setup to be complete (see the payments guide).

  4. Charge with Tap to Pay

    Choose card and let the client hold their contactless card (or phone/smartwatch) near your phone. Tap to Pay works in the mobile app on iPhone and on recent Android devices with NFC: no external POS, the money lands directly in your Stripe account.

  5. Close the sale

    Once the payment is confirmed the sale is recorded: you will find it in your revenue and in Reports. The client receives the payment confirmation.

Prerequisite: card payments need your Stripe onboarding to be complete. Cash always works, even without Stripe. If a card payment fails you can always fall back to cash and still record the sale.
