Configure services, pricing and duration
How to build your service catalog: pricing, duration, variants, photos, booking requirements, deposit. Essential setup to receive bookings.
Without services in your catalog, nobody can book. Services are the heart of your ZenBookr business: each has name, price, duration, and optionally variants, requirements, deposit.
This guide helps you configure the first batch (suggested: 5-10 most requested services) so your calendar is immediately usable.
Step-by-step guide
Open Services tab
From main dashboard, tap the Services Tab in bottom nav bar (icon
💼, 4th tab after Calendar, Dashboard, Cash). You'll see empty list with "+ New service" button highlighted.If you selected a category during onboarding (e.g. "Hairdresser"), ZenBookr offers template with 8-10 typical services pre-filled. Accept and modify or start from scratch.
Fill in first service fields
Tap the FAB "+" button at bottom right to open form and fill:
- Service name: descriptive and short. Appears in catalog and reminders.
- Internal category: to organize catalog ("Cuts", "Color", "Treatments", "Extras")
- Base price: in EUR. Even with Smart Pricing, this is the standard.
- Duration: minutes needed (incl. prep and finishing).
- Short description: 1-2 sentences visible on marketplace.
⚠️ Buffer time: configured globally for all services from Settings > Buffer time, not per individual service.
Add service photos (optional but recommended)
Services with example photos (real work, before/after) receive up to 60% more bookings. Upload 1-3 photos per service, 4:3 ratio, max 5 MB each.
GDPR warning: if photo shows recognizable client, you need written consent for public use.
Configure variants (optional)
If service has duration/price variants (e.g. "Women's haircut" = short/medium/long), add them under Variants:
- Variant name: e.g. "Short hair", "Medium hair", "Long hair"
- Specific price: e.g. €25 / €30 / €35
- Specific duration: e.g. 30 / 45 / 60 minutes
Client chooses variant at booking.
Set requirements and deposit policy
For long/expensive services, deposit makes sense:
- Fixed deposit: e.g. €20 charged at booking
- Deposit %: e.g. 30% of service price
- Pre-authorization only: card is "blocked" without immediate charge
Special requirements if needed: new clients only, recurring clients only, manual approval.
Assign service to team
If you have team, specify who can perform this service:
- All members: client chooses at booking
- Specific only: checkbox list of enabled members
Calendar updates: slot available only if at least one enabled member is free.
Publish and verify on marketplace
Click "Save and publish". Service is immediately available for bookings.
Go to Preview client profile to see how it appears on marketplace. Verify price, duration, photos, variants.
Repeat for your 5-10 most requested services. Add others anytime.
Practical tips
Start with 5 most-requested services. Don't perfect the whole catalog day 1.
Pricing: slightly higher is better than lower. Easier to discount than to raise.
Duration: add 5-10 min safety. Clients hate appointments running longer than promised.
Common issues
"My price doesn't show in marketplace"
Verify service is "Published" and category isn't "hidden" in Settings > Catalog.
